pvc-based cerium phosphate membrane exhibiting selectivity for molybdate anions
Authors
abstract
a pvc-based membrane containing cerium phosphate was developed. unlike the cerium phosphate itself that acts as a cation exchanger, the membrane exhibited anion-exchange properties. therefore, the utility of this compound as a sensory element for detection of molybdate ions was pursued. the response of molybdate selective electrode based on this membrane was perfectly linear in the concentration range 1.98´10-5 to 10-1 m. characteristics of this electrode such as electric resistance, stability and membrane preconditioning process, and regeneration of its sensitivity are reported.

full textEuropium(III) complex-based luminescent sensing probes for multi-phosphate anions: modulating selectivity by ligand choice.
Four tetradentate beta-diketonate-Eu3+ complexes were developed as probes for the luminescent sensing of multi-phosphates. By using an appropriate ligand, the pyrophosphate ion (PPi) could be selectively and sensitively detected.
full textPVC based 4,13-didecyl-1,7,10,16-tetraoxa-4,13-diazacyclooctadecane electrode for Cerium (III) ions
A new polyvinyl choloride (PVC) membrane sensor for cerium (III) was prepared based on 4,13-didecyl-1,7,10,16-tetraoxa-4,13-diazacyclooctadecane (kryptofix22DD) as an ionophore. The sensor exhibites a linear concentration range of 1.0×10-6 to 1.0×10-1 M, with a Nernstian slope of 18.0±1.0 mV/decade, and a detection limit of 9.7×10-7 M. It has a fast response tim...
full textBenzimidazole-based anion receptors exhibiting selectivity for lactate over pyruvate.
The influence of anions on tautomerism in benzimidazole containing anion receptors has been studied via a variety of techniques in both solution and the solid state. The results show that hydrogen bonding interactions between the receptors and guests have a significant effect of the nature of the tautomer present. The compounds show a preference for complexation of lactate over pyruvate.

A fluorine-labelled zinc(II)-dipicolylamine coordination complex reports the presence of phosphate anions in aqueous solution, especially pyrophosphate and ADP, and is used to monitor the enzymatic hydrolysis of ATP.
full textTriiodide PVC membrane electrodes based on charge-transfer complexes.
Three new electrodes were prepared by incorporating two different charge-transfer complexes and amino crown ether into plasticized PVC membranes. The electrodes showed Nernstian response to triiodide ion over the activity range from 1.0 x 10(-5) to 1.0 x 10(-1) mol x L(-1) with detection limits at approximately 1.0 x 10(-6) mol x L(-1). The resulting electrodes have fast response times (20-30 s...
